Q: I love the new online store! Does this mean that the Sewing Lair store in Beenleigh is closed?

A: We are very much still open! The online store is an addition to our social enterprise, designed to raise funds, provide cheaper items for the creative community and increase the amount of textile waste we can divert from landfill.

Q: I have been adding items to my cart and now they are gone! What happened?

A: There are a couple of reasons this can happen. The shopping cart has a 3-hour limit – if you haven’t checked out by then, the items are automatically returned to the store. Or it is possible someone purchased it while you were looking. The only way to guarantee your purchase is to complete check out. And yes, we can combine orders so you can check out multiple times if you really need to.

Q: Can I still pick up my order in store?

A: Absolutely! You can make a purchase and choose “local pick up”. We will pack your order and you will receive an email when it is ready for collection.

Q: Can I pick up my order the same day I made the purchase?

A: Yes, you can (during opening hours)! We just ask you to ring ahead to the store so we can pick and pack it for you (07 3155 3607) or to allow extra time when you arrive for us to do so.

Q: I want to keep shopping for a few days so I can combine postage. Is this possible?

A: Yes! Select “hold and combine”. You check out, and we print your order and keep it on hold. When your 10 days has elapsed, you go to the store, add postage to your cart (and any other last-minute goodies!) and then we post your order to you.

Q: Are the items listed online also available for purchase in store?

A: No they are not. Online stock and store stock is kept separately. You need to complete your purchase online and then pop in to collect. You can of course also shop in store while you are here!

Q: I am not happy with my order, what do I do?

A: In the first instance you send us an email hello@thesewinglair.com.au. We are run by volunteers, and we all do our best. However, as humans do, we will make occasional errors! We will rectify any mistakes and work with you for an outcome that works for everyone. If it is an urgent matter call the store 07 3155 3607 and ask for Sharyn or Cass. If we are not in we will return your call as soon as practical.
