Project: Custom Sewing Machine Cover

Let’s make some fun, practical covers to protect our favourite tool: our sewing machines!

Bring your own sewing machine along to this class, and together we’ll take some measurements, create a pattern, and make a unique cover to suit your own machine. These covers will include an opening for the carry handle, a large pocket for your pedal and power cord, and some small pockets for your equipment, depending on your personal style.

What we will cover:

• Measuring your sewing machine and marking an appropriate pattern
• Cutting and preparing fabric and fixings
• Adding pockets and sewing bindings
• Sewing a complete cover, personalised to your sewing machine

What you will need:

• BYO sewing machine to customise the cover just for you! (If you need to borrow one of our machines, please bring some measurements or photos, and we can do our best to match your own machine at home)

What we provide:

• A kit full of all fabric and fixings to make a your own cover
• All sewing equipment needed (threads, scissors etc.) including sewing machines if you’re unable to bring your own

General Information:

Difficulty level: Intermediate Skills

• This is an ideal class for sewists who know their way around a sewing machine
• You are able to thread your sewing machine, change bobbins and troubleshoot basic issues

Age: 15+

Participants are asked to please wear enclosed shoes.
