Cosplay, Community and Crafts
Come and join the Sewing Lair for an evening of exploration into the weird and wacky world of costumes and cosplay!
If you’ve ever wanted to make a mace out of styrofoam, recreate an anime waifu on a budget, or just want to sit down with some (self-proclaimed) nerds and argue over fandoms, then this is for you!
This is a collaborative and social event, where we work on personal projects and draw on the varied skills and knowledge that our cosplayers and self taught crafters have built.

What is the cost of a class or group?
Do I have to book, or can I just come along?
Classes and workshops must be booked online prior to attendance. The exception to this is the Charity Sewing Group and Knit and Natter Group. Social and Charity meets are designed for attendees to help each other and work together. Mentors are available to assist you. However if you require one on one assistance please call 3155 3067 or email classes@thesewinglair.com.au prior to attending so we can book in some time with an appropriately experienced mentor. Please remember that all our staff are volunteers so appropriate mentors may not always be available.
Do I need to bring or purchase supplies for my class?
This depends entirely on what activity you are booking for. All information will be provided in the particular class information.
Can children attend my classes with me?
Well behaved children* are welcome to attend depending on the nature of the class. They are not permitted in the shop without adult supervision. You are responsible for supervision of your child/ren at all times. Contact us to find out if your class is suitable for your children to come along with you. *I am assured they exist…just like unicorns!
