An Introduction to Finishing Clothing

If you’re anything like me, putting in that final 10% to finish your home-made clothes is always the hardest part. Well, procrastinate no more! Come join us for a crash course session, covering the basics of inserting zippers, sewing buttons and button holes, and hemming garments.

Got an ongoing project you’re struggling with? Please bring it along and we can tackle it together!

What we will cover:

• Sewing buttons and button holes
• Inserting zippers, from basic exposed zips through to lap zips
• Different styles of hemming, including rolled hems, facings, binding, and horsehair braid

What you will need:

• Any current project that you want help or advice to finish
• Optional: if you have your own sewing equipment please feel free to bring it along  (e.g.: sewing machine, machine accessories and feet, scissors, pins)

What we provide:

• Buttons, zippers and plenty of sample fabric to practice with
• Sample fabrics to create hems
• Sewing machines and accessories as needed

• This is an ideal class for sewists who are just beginning their sewing journey
• We can provide basic sewing instruction and support as needed

Participants are asked to please wear enclosed shoes.
